zoe & goby
featuring original music by Joanna Katcher of dubly productions
An animation about the symbiotic relationship between a blind shrimp and a homeless fish. Based on actual species which exist in the Pacific Ocean and Red Sea, the shrimp are prone to predators, while the physical makeup of the goby prevent it from burrowing, or making a home. Neither character is abnormal or deficient in any way – the two complement one another’s existence and care for each other. Created with cutout paper characters, Adobe Photoshop & AfterEffects.

Here's our take on it.

City Island Line
with Mike Bukhin
Mike and I based our animation on a story told by Ronald Ruiz on StoryCorps. We went through various ideas on how to approach it and really wanted to treat his story with care. A lot of the process was driven by our learning curve with Flash; Most actions were planned, but some came out of happy accidents.
